Search Engineer Job Description

A Search Engineer has the responsibility of developing new ways to improve the search engine results for the company they work for. Search Engineers recognize that the dynamics of search engines change frequently, and they stay on top of them. This role is essential to the success of the company they work for. Search Engineers strive to improve the quality of a company's search engine results and to try and increase the conversion rate.

Search Engineers create new search features and infrastructure and must be familiar with the different frameworks. They need to know how to measure, develop and analyze performance. Search Engineers need to have strong knowledge of operating systems like Linux, experience building SAAS applications, experience with agile and test-driven applications and object-oriented programming skills with languages such as Ruby and Java.
