Product Designer Job Description

A Product Designer's job is to use both their technical and design skills to create new products or recreate existing ones. This job is often a collaborative effort with other colleagues or clients. A Product Designer often works in conjunction with the marketing department, sales team or other technical staff when creating products. This position requires someone who has strong technical and scientific skills, yet is equally creative. Product Designers should have a clear understanding of the various types of production methods and materials involved in product design. They should also have an eye for color and shape. This position could be in a variety of industries such as manufacturing, technical or with a design consultancy.

Applicants interested in a Product Designer position needs to know how to use computer design, drawings and 3D models to create and demonstrate product ideas. Additionally, Product Designers must be able to create their designs within a time frame and on budget. They need strong IT skills and should be comfortable explaining their ideas to other team members or clients.
