UX designers are tasked with making sure the software product or app is user-friendly and functional. UX designers use research and good communication skills to fully understand the user‰Ûªs needs as well as any pain points with the current software or app. They then collaborate with the product and engineering teams to create flows, wireframes and prototypes in order to ensure a high-quality end product and experience. Essential qualifications for UX designers include creativity, design and programming skills, attention to detail, time management and technology awareness. Degrees in media design or software engineering will give the candidate a leg up.
UX designers may be tasked with creating mock-ups, prototypes and user-testing studies all designed to gather feedback from the client. Understanding of HTML, CSS and other style languages can be an asset. UX designers may find that the end user does not want functionality of the software or app changed but rather the look and feel which can be changed with skins, stylesheets and updated layouts or graphics. UX designers may also be asked to create sales paraphernalia, help in launch deals or assist with other communications of the product to the public as they are the closest to knowing the needs and wants of potential clients.
