Search Engineer Job Description

The role of the Search Engineer is to improve the quality of a company's search engine results and to increase the conversion rate. The Search Engineer builds new infrastructure and search features. Someone in this position should be familiar with the different frameworks and know how to develop, measure and analyze performance. Additional skills that a Search Engineer needs include comprehensive knowledge of operating systems such as Linux, experience building SAAS applications, strong object-oriented programming skills with languages such as Ruby and Java and experience with agile and test-driven applications.

Essentially, a Search Engineer spends their days developing ways to improve the search engine results for the company they work for. They understand the intricacies and ever-changing dynamics of search engines, and that their role is critical to the success of the company.

Living and Working in Austin

Austin is a great place to live and work. There's always something to do. In fact, 50 people move to this great city every day, and for good reason. It is laid back, outdoorsy, eclectic and has a vibrant music scene. In fact, it is the home of one of the most popular music festivals, South by Southwest. There is a great sports scene too with a local baseball team and University of Texas sports. The food in Austin is also amazing. This is not a strip mall and chain restaurant kind of place. There are tons of small, funky restaurants and breweries to enjoy.
