Product designers lead the charge during the creation of new products or equipment. Their work process typically involves designing the product, creating a model, supervising the production of prototypes and testing for potential flaws. They may also be responsible for sketching initial designs, identifying the right materials and making presentations to management or client for evaluation.
Product designers often work alongside engineers during the planning phase of a project. Most product designers are skilled in the use of dedicated computer programs (CAD). They also have a degree in product design or a related program like Spatial Design or Industrial Design. They may work as a freelancer or a full-time employee in different industries, including commerce, retail and industrial manufacturers.
