They often work with others including colleagues, engineers, marketers and sales staff. Product Designers must be both creative and technical. The Product Designer job also requires scientific and practical abilities. A Product Designer must be familiar with a variety of production materials and methods, and they need to have a keen eye for shape and color. Product Designers can work in many different types of industries including manufacturing, technical or at a design consultancy.

Product Designer candidates must be able to use 3D models, drawings and computer design to express their product ideas. They also need strong IT skills. Product Designers should be organized and able to work within a budget.
