Gaming Engineer Job Description

Gaming engineers use their knowledge of programming and game design to help with the initial concept that develops into a prototype for a game. They work with teams of illustrators, programmers and testers to develop, design and create new video games. Gaming engineers may be involved with all phases of the development, from devising the initial concept to testing the product before release. They're responsible for creating coding sequences for game play on various mobile devices, as well as computer and gaming systems. These specialized software engineers can be involved with programs that control how a character acts, looks, feels and moves. They can also create background scenes, a storyline and other interactions throughout a game. Gaming engineers study software engineering, artificial intelligence, 2D and 3D animation, as well as information management. They have knowledge of Java programing, interactive and digital media, data structures and designs.
