Salesforce Developers analyze internal company processes. They work collaboratively with a team to create custom solutions that fit with the current CRM workflows and meet the specific needs of a business. Salesforce Developers will often be tasked with reviewing data and ultimately developing complex CRM solutions that will ensure best practices are followed by the company and the best data solutions are provided. Although Salesforce Developers commonly work within the IT department, there are some that work remotely. Because the industries that employ these professionals are varied, the skill sets that are required for employment may differ from one company to another. Typically, a candidate should have the ability to work well in groups, have programming language knowledge and understand development technologies. They will be familiar with web development tools and are able to lead the implementation and testing of software. Employers often ask that candidates for this role have good time management skills and the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time.
Salesforce Developers may hold a bachelor’s degree in computer science or similar field. They will have strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills. These professionals should be able to explain technical problems in layman's terms so that issues can be addressed promptly when they arise with minimal workflow disruption. They will be knowledgeable of SQL, jQuery, Visualforce, Salesforce and Apex. Although Salesforce Developers usually work independently and are self-motivated, they should also be able to work well in a team environment.
