About iwoca

About iwoca:
iwoca is breaking down the barriers that stop Europe’s 20 million small businesses accessing finance. Traditional banks are slow with rigid terms and burdensome criteria. In contrast, we use technology to offer flexible access to credit with five minute online applications and near-instant decisions.

Since 2012, we've lent over £500 million to almost 20,000 businesses across Europe. Our customers include everything from cafés to car dealers and salons to solicitors. Along the way we‘ve built a sophisticated technology platform, won numerous awards and grown to a smart, vibrant, fun team of almost 200 people.

Despite this, we know we’re still small. Our aim is to fund a million small business within a decade and make a real dent on the funding gap.

Our tech stack:
We run our Django-powered site on AWS, using AngularJS for our internal application & React+Redux for our public facing projects, with focus on adhering to ES6 standards. We use asynchronous tools (Twisted, Celery) for time-consuming tasks and scientific libraries (numpy, scipy, pandas) for risk aspects. Application orchestration is done with Docker and Ansible and our monitoring is set up using StatsD, Elasticsearch-Logstash-Kibana.

Our tech team:
Our tech team consists of 40 Developers across Frontend, Backend and Analytics. We all play a significant role in specifying the problem and thinking through all possible solutions. As our CTO also happens to be one of our Co-founders, tech really is at the forefront of the business. Our development cycle is tight with Agile-ish processes that means features or projects go live in days or weeks rather than months or years.
Our team consists of some of the best ping-pong players on the planet (this might be a slight exaggeration, but they are good) and we have lost count of the number of languages we collectively speak within the team. English, 'Northern', French, German, Polish, Russian, Latvian, Italian, Spanish etc.

You will always have a say in the business and have the opportunity to really make a difference. Joining our team means you will be working with some cool tech and get the opportunity to really make a difference to people’s lives. We also help all our employees become top performers and reward everyone in numerous different ways.
