Computer Vision Engineer Job Description

Computer Vision Engineers are software engineers who develop unique algorithms or programs for imaging systems and other devices to solve different tasks. Some of the areas in which a computer vision engineer may be found include biometrics, robotics, facial recognition and image restoration. They work with a variety of hardware devices and also design, develop and debug programs designed to run on prototype equipment.

Computer vision engineers typically work within a team made of specialists from different engineering disciplines. Entry-level engineers may initially work as software engineers debugging codes. Their work may include designing and building advanced solutions for technologies like Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR). In addition to having an advanced degree, most computer vision engineers are skilled in several programming languages, including C++.

Home to major online businesses such as Twitter, Dropbox, Lyft and Craigslist, San Francisco has a booming tech industry that involves a mix of small startups and major companies. The city also has a thriving arts, retail and financial sector, with companies like Wells Fargo, NFX Guild and Charles Schwab.
