NOC Engineer Job Description

The primary role of an NOC Engineer is to troubleshoot and monitor the telecommunications and network systems of the company or organization they work for. This job involves many different duties such as monitoring the performance and capacity of computer systems, coordinating with the IT department to troubleshoot any problems that arise and tracking all issues including detailed information about the resolution. NOC Engineers are sometimes unable to correct the issues on their own. In these cases, they may need to escalate an issue to management, other IT resources or a third party vendor.

The qualifications to be a NOC Engineer include strong analytical skills, understanding of common information architecture frameworks, excellent time management and organizational skills and knowledge of project management techniques and methodologies.
