Systems Administrators oversee the operation of an organization’s computer system. This can include installation and configuration, daily operation and maintenance of both hardware and software along with related infrastructure. Operation and support will include tasks such as performing daily system monitoring, verifying the availability of all hardware, reviewing system and application logs and verifying scheduled jobs such as backups. Systems Administrators are in charge of creating, modifying and deleting user accounts as necessary. They are also asked to investigate and troubleshoot any issues that may come up through normal use of the system. A Systems Administrator should hold a Bachelor’s Degree in computer science as well as four to six years experience as an administrator.
