A Build And Release Engineer is responsible for making sure that software that is being developed is released in a stable manner while also being released on schedule. Build-Release Engineers are most often in a full-time, office environment where they work with a number of other team members. As such, strong communication skills are a must in addition to being able to program and script in a variety of languages. In regard to education, a bachelor's degree in computer science is often the minimum needed. Many companies, however, will accept an equal amount of work experience as a substitute.
Most often, a Build And Release Engineer will spend his or her time compiling new versions of a program in order to thoroughly test it as well as any new modules for stability and/or bugs. Build-Release Engineers are also responsible for managing, documenting and enhancing software products, as well as implementing custom solutions for clients in regard to software needs.
