The job of a QA Test Automation Engineer includes many different responsibilities such as automated test creation and execution, design and implementation of various tests, making corrections to programs that require debugging and defining the actions needed to correct issues for quality assurance. A QA Test Automation Engineer must also design, develop and execute automated scripts, perform regression testing to solve bugs and apply open source tools and new testing procedures in order to meet client needs.

To qualify for the position of QA Test Automation Engineer, applicants should have prior work experience in software development and software quality assurance. Familiarity with scripting, SQL and the Agile and Scrum development processes is also an important skill. QA Test Automation Engineers should have experience with white and black box testing. A degree in Computer Science or a related field is often required for this position.
