QA Test Automation Engineers have many different responsibilities. They must design and implement tests, define and correct actions and track quality assurance metrics. QA Test Automation Engineers are also responsible for creating and executing automated tests for quality assurance. They design, develop and execute automated scripts, perform regression testing, develop new testing processes and implement them, use open source tools and resolve bugs when necessary.
To become a QA Test Automation Engineer, applicants need to have knowledge of scripting and SQL, ability to use Agile/Scrum development processes, and experience working with software development and quality assurance. They should also be familiar with white and black box testing. Typically a QA Test Automation Engineer has at least a bachelor's degree in a technical field such as Computer Science.
