Engineering Managers helm the technical activities of an engineering team of contractors. Their duties may include developing new products, creating schedules for production, fine-tuning the budget, researching new methods to improve operational efficiency or recruiting new employees to fit the company needs. They may assist with the preparation of marketing literature and provide regular updates to management.
Engineering Managers may work in different fields, including mechanical, computer engineering, real estate and gaming industries. Most Engineering Managers work an average of 40 to 50 hours every week. In 2016, the Bureau of Labor Statistics projected that job opportunities for Engineering Managers would grow by 10 percent over the decade.
The second largest city in the world, Los Angeles is also one of the richest. In 2015, the Los Angeles–Long Beach had a Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of over $860 billion, making it one of the top 3 economies in the world (behind Tokyo and New York). Some of the largest employers in the city include the entertainment, finance, manufacturing and trading industries. Los Angeles also has a growing biotechnology and construction sector.
Los Angeles experiences pleasant, beach-friendly weather through most of the year, something that the residents regularly advantage off. Alongside hundreds of museums and events centers, the city offers world-class restaurant, clubs and lounges. While the city has a public transit system that links most business regions, many of the city’s residents own a car and prefer to drive.
