Embedded Engineers produce optimized software systems that can be used in anything from a car’s braking system to the avionics systems in a Boeing 777. They are responsible for designing, creating, testing and debugging the software. Embedded Engineers are required to keep reliability and safety in mind more than desktop application developers. They also have to consider real-time constraints as to how fast the system responds to an event or command. Communications with hardware pieces must not be lost and latencies have to be minimal. Embedded Engineers usually hold a Bachelor of Science degree in either computer science or engineering. Companies that employ Embedded Engineers include Apple, Google, Lockheed Martin, Aritech Consultants and Dynetics.
