Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems, located in Palmdale, CA, has an opening for an SP-2 Software Section Manager 2.

The selected candidate will work closely with the SP-2 Software IPT Lead on all technical aspects of the program and report to the Palmdale Aircraft Integration Center of Excellence Software Department Manager for direction on all functional activities. This role is about a 15% functional management and 85% technical management position.

Essential Functions:

* Functional management of approximately 15 software engineering personnel assigned to Mission Systems software development on the SP-2 program
* Conduct performance assessments for the team of developers within the section
* All elements of staffing including forecasting, retention and recruiting
* Perform employee development activities
* Communication, disciplinary actions, compensation adjustments, training & educational oversight/ approval and other routine personnel issues
* Establishment of common processes and practices in cooperation with colleague managers across the sector
* Track both the quality and timeliness of the organization's products, and identification and remediation of potential issues before they become problems
* Development and management of detailed budgets and schedules
* Analyze requirements allocated to computer software configuration items (CSCI)
* Design and develop software with minimal supervision
* Technical effort emphasis will be software development of embedded or models and simulation software.

ASMGMT

Basic Qualifications:

* Bachelors degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM).


* 5 years of experience in software development or software test, or 3 years with Masters Degree, or 0 years with a PhD.


* Candidate must have an active DoD Secret or Top Secret and a background investigation within the scope of five years. Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain all required security clearances and program specific accesses.


* Previous technical leadership experience.



Preferred Qualifications:

* SP-2 Special Access Security Clearance


* Experience coding in C/C or Python.


* Experience in modeling and simulation in a laboratory environment.


* Experience with system integration


* Previous management experience.


* Masters Degree in STEM.
