Thanks for having me! It’s a pleasure to be here 🙂 I have been a Customer Success Manager at Hired for a year and a half. In my role, I help our small to medium businesses meet (or exceed!) their hiring goals by helping them hire the right candidates for their roles.
I’ve dipped into a few waters throughout my career, but I have always enjoyed helping people so have been in customer-centric roles regardless of industry. What do the industries I’ve worked in have in common? They led me to Hired! Working in the non-profit sector of animal welfare helped me hone my empathy and other intrapersonal skills while transitioning into the world of luxury hotels helped me learn to adapt to fast-paced environments. These experiences certainly set me up for success in tech, and I’ve found my home at Hired.
Helping employers fill positions that they have had difficulty hiring for – I really enjoy finding solutions to our customers’ challenges.
I love that the work I do can have such a positive impact on people’s lives. By helping employers make hires, not only have I helped the company with their hiring goals but I also helped someone land a new job to support themselves and/or their families. And that’s an awesome feeling!
Unite is Hired’s Employee Resource Group. We embrace diversity, equity, and inclusion at the company through various employee engagement efforts such as one of my favorites – our Book Club! As Secretary, I help prepare meeting agendas, take notes, create content, share communications about upcoming events, and more. I’m grateful to be a part of this committee that fosters diversity company-wide and encourages all employees to have a seat at the table.
Picking one is hard! One of my favorite ongoing projects is beta-testing different products and features we release. I love being able to help identify parts of a product or process that can be improved and hone in on what makes those processes or products successful.
On day one at Hired, I was: Grace Asher, a new Customer Success Manager on the team.
Today, I am: Grace Asher, Customer Success Manager for our SMB employers; Secretary of Unite; an involved team member who assists with training new hires, beta-testing products, and supporting in rolling out new features.
I’ve gotten to where I am today by never giving up. I always keep trying, even if I get frustrated and feel like quitting, and even when I’ve failed. I try again anyway. It’s learning from those lessons along the way that will help me get to where I want to be. My managers and colleagues genuinely believing in me and helping me in my journey has also played a significant role in my success thus far. They’ve made it clear that what I have to say matters and that my voice deserves to be heard. As someone who struggles with imposter syndrome, this type of support goes a long way and I couldn’t be more grateful for their support.
Ask for forgiveness, not permission (within reason). It’s this piece of advice that has inspired me to take on new projects and try new things, or even create things. I think of it like this: what’s the worst-case scenario if you propose a new idea? Someone says no? And what’s the best-case scenario? Someone says yes! I live for the yeses and learn from the nos. It’s a win-win situation either way.
These are a few of my favorite things! I get outside as often as I can, mostly by going on walks or taking my cat out on a walk. My minimum is 15 minutes every day but I always aim for more. I also recently got into resin art which has helped me express myself in a creative way and has also been a good outlet for my energy (I’m an extrovert in a remote world!). Lastly, I like to support the community (and the animals) by volunteering at the animal shelter.
Something that I’ve learned along the way in my career is that having empathy is not only crucial in the workplace but also a skill to be practiced regularly. And it’s not just having empathy for your customers but also for your colleagues and yourself. Ted Talks (Ted Conferences) on LinkedIn often share a lot of great clips about intra- and interpersonal skills that are brief and easy to digest. Highly recommend!
I really enjoyed building bikes for a local charity. I was proud that Hired took initiative to give back to the community we visited and incorporated it into the offsite agenda. It was also a great opportunity to make memories with more team members across the company.
I have to pick just one?! Party Hard by Andrew W.K. is one of my favorites. An easy song for the whole crowd to get into and sing along with!
I’m going with Thailand on this one. It’s a beautiful place with a lot to experience!
My fur child, Sophie. She’s a big floof with kitten energy and has the biggest heart – but she does tend to interrupt in meetings!
