Living and Working in the San Francisco Bay Area

Few areas in the United States are as fertile as the San Francisco Bay Area in terms of employment opportunities. This densely populated region encompasses one of the world's most recognized technology centers, Silicon Valley, as well as the cities of San Francisco, Oakland, Berkeley and beyond. From Mountain View and Petaluma to Redwood City and Livermore, the San Francisco Bay Area is like none other, home to hundreds of Fortune 500 companies, as well as huge tech companies like Apple, Google, Facebook, Oracle, Yahoo, Twitter, LinkedIn, Electronic Arts and more.

The Bay Area hosts more than tech companies, of course. Over 7 million people live in the San Francisco Bay Area, generating the need for jobs in every field. The region is home to hundreds of advertising agencies, banks, hospitals, retail businesses, and more. There are also several major universities, including Stanford, UC Berkeley and San Jose State.

Life in the city and outlying areas is incredibly convenient, with hundreds of communities, fantastic school districts, multiple shopping districts and some of the country's fastest internet speeds. With so many people calling the region home, the San Francisco Bay Area features one of the most robust public transit systems in the nation. The Bay Area Rapid Transit System (BART) and the Municipal Transportation Agency, or Muni, make it easy to get between San Francisco and the East Bay area. A comprehensive system of freeways connects the metro area with the outlying areas.
