Job Description

We are looking for a talented, passionate Senior Performance Engineer to help shape and drive the future of SoFi's engineering platform. As part of the performance engineering team, you will be working across the entire architecture stack and product offerings. You'll be in the middle of it all - new product launches, supporting our continuing growth, helping deliver a great customer experience and continually growing as an engineer. You'll be focused on providing insights into the performance and resiliency of our key systems. You go beyond just writing test scripts and pushing the button. The ideal candidate is both forward-thinking and hands-on, has a strong sense of ownership and drive for delivery, and is a good mentor and co-worker.

Key responsibilities

* Lead and Execute the performance and resiliency testing of system components/services/applications and infrastructure


* Analyze test results and production data to provide insights into bottlenecks, capacity, resiliency and customer experience


* Work across the lifecycle, from conception, build, test and production to integrate performance and resiliency at every phase


* Build frameworks and implement best practices, new tools and technologies as the challenges and architecture change


* Mentor other engineers, support the technical culture, and help grow the team


* Generate ideas for new initiatives and technologies


* Communicate with project leads, product managers and engineers across the org



Requirements

* Bachelor's Degree, ideally in a technical field, but we understand great engineers come from all sorts of different backgrounds and also consider relevant work experience


* 8+ years programming experience, ideally on a modern stack


* Use of APM & Logging tools like New Relic, Dynatrace, Elastic, Data Dog for Analysis, Reporting, Monitoring


* Experience Analyzing production systems


* Working in AWS or other cloud computing providers


* Performance engineering across the SDLC and in DevOps


* Load Testing tools like Jmeter, Gatling


* Willingness to roll up your sleeves, collaborate with others and get stuff done


* Strong sense of responsibility; driving a project from inception to completion

* Experience with Mocking and service virtualization at scale

* Good understanding of SOLID principles
