Get to Know Jules Grondin, Senior Internal Recruiter

Thanks for joining us! Please tell us all about your role with Hired and what it entails.

I have been with Hired for just over a year now. My role’s responsibilities include owning the entire recruitment lifecycle from sourcing to closing candidates for various open roles across all departments. I partner with hiring managers, providing coaching and guidance on interviewing and hiring best practices.

Can you share a little bit about your background and what led you to join Hired?

I come from an agency background, specifically within executive recruiting for startup tech companies. After a few years of recruiting for multiple companies at a time, I became drawn to the career path of going in-house. As a recruiter, I have a passion for HR/Talent and thought it was a great opportunity to be a recruiter for a company within the space. Hired came across my radar and I knew instantly it would be the perfect fit culturally and a chance to further my career.

When it comes to working at Hired, what’s your favorite part?

Easily, my favorite part about working at Hired is the people. As a recruiter, I am able to work cross-functionally on a daily basis. This has allowed me to immerse myself in our wonderful staff, truly seeing the passion and reason everyone has to be working here!

What do you like most about your job?

I really enjoy the autonomy I’ve been given within my scope of work. I am able to shift and adjust our recruitment tactics to keep up with the ever-evolving industry. Also, I want to be sure we are always going above and beyond with personal touches in our process including but not limited to a detailed feedback loop and constant communication.

We’d also love to hear about your involvement in the Tech Recruitment Collective. Please tell us more!

I have been lucky enough to launch the Tech Recruitment Collective as a new initiative in partnership with our marketing team. The Collective is for HR/TA professionals who may be in the market for their next role. It provides professionals access to an exclusive list of open roles within our network of innovative employers and also informs our employers of who is active. I was able to help curate this from inception to launch in which we now have over 400 participants!

What has been your favorite project at Hired?

One of my favorite projects at Hired actually started on day two of work. I was able to work with Hired’s Summer ’22 internship program. I recruited and onboarded 8 interns in the span of 7 weeks. It was one of my most fulfilling recruitment projects as I know how the impact an internship can have on a college student.

How have you advanced professionally since joining our team?

Coming into Hired, I have become a first-time manager and have expanded my skill set, including being put through a management training program. I feel more prepared than ever to continue forward in my career as a manager.

What is the best career lesson you’ve learned so far?

Never sacrifice your mental health and happiness within a company. It’s very easy to get trapped and feel like you are letting others down if you take time off or switch jobs. But it’s important to prioritize yourself in how you feel and what you want. After all, it is your life and career – no one else’s!

What are your passion projects or hobbies outside of work?

I am currently residing in Denver, Colorado. Here, I spend most of my time out in the mountains either skiing, hiking, or camping. I also love to garden and take care of my plants!

What advice would you give to someone interested in Recruiting?

My advice to anyone interested in recruiting is to outreach others within the field! Recruiters out of most professions are wanting to help people make career shifts and changes. They will make the time for anyone interested in learning more and it is the best way to learn more firsthand if it’s the career path for you.

Last summer, Hired hosted the One Team, One Dream Hired Summit, the first offsite gathering for the company in more than two years. What was one of your takeaways or favorite memories?

Overall, it was just an absolutely amazing time getting to meet everyone in person! I never would have imagined the energy and culture that Hired has been able to cultivate from a remote-first company. It was inspiring and was one of the many moments in which I knew I made the right move in my career by joining Hired.

Speaking of a good time, what is your go-to karaoke song?

Any Kid Rock song!

We’re a remote-first company so we have to know: if you could work from anywhere, where would it be?

I wouldn’t work just anywhere – I’d work everywhere! I love to travel so I would bop around a lot but my top choices would likely be Portugal, Costa Rica, or New Zealand.

Any WFH pets who keep you company throughout the day?

Absolutely! I just got a puppy who is 4 months old now. She’s a black lab named Dogwood and my best friend during the work days.
