Backend Engineers typically build robust and scalable software by using languages such as Java, Scala and Ruby. They are employed by various companies throughout many industries in the country. These professionals enjoy a challenging and rewarding career that helps to develop the backend of software so that the user on the frontend has a seamless and easy experience. Backend Engineers help improve existing code quality through writing unit tests, automation and performing code reviews. They must be creative and analytical at the same time. These professionals will frequently participate in brainstorming sessions in order to contribute ideas to improving current algorithms, technology and products. Backend Engineers need to have at least an undergraduate degree in computer science or a related field and at times companies may accept an equivalent amount of work experience as a substitute. Experience with systems such as Linux and scripting languages like Python or Perl is a plus.
