These engineers have the responsibility to write embedded software that is used to operate specially designed hardware. Embedded software can be found in many different things, such as cars, toys, televisions, security systems, robots and more. This field also plays a large role in the development of airplanes, missiles, satellites and other such systems. Embedded Engineers must be able to design, write and debug embedded software with minimal supervision. They will also understand and interpret error reports and act accordingly. Because this role involves working with other team members, exceptional communication and documentation skills are a must. In terms of education, job-seekers will need at least a four-year degree in computer science, information technology, electronics or a similar field.
