A Security Engineer evaluates security measures to assess disruption and malicious activity. This may involve code and deployment review, modeling, security tuning and implementing design guidelines. A Security Engineer may also work in the fields of physical security, information security, technical surveillance counter-measures and economics of security. Applicable areas of study may include physics, math, psychology and social science. Experience and familiarity with IT security functions, intrusion detection and prevention systems, cyber security standards and trending security products may be required. Daily tasks may involve verifying security system requirements, documenting cyber security policies, providing security architecture and evaluating cyber security products.
