Job Description

Technical Project Manager II (Akamai Technologies, Inc.; Cambridge, MA)(multiple positions): Technical Project Managers are a part of the Akamai Professional Services team and work directly with Akamai's clients to deliver Akamai solutions. This role is as an individual contributor and there are no direct reports. TPMs coordinate the integration of customers' web sites with the Akamai network. They are involved from early in the pre-sales cycle (proposals and trials) through implementation and customer sign-off. TPMs must have a full understanding of development methodologies, consulting best practices, and common web and application architectures. This position requires a strong technical background, excellent client and project management skills, proven ability to do hands on technical work when needed, and ability to handle technical projects and technical teams. Successful candidates must be action oriented, capable of independently solving complex technical problems and able to communicate clearly and effectively to both technical and business audiences. Domestic travel within the United States required approximately 10% of the time. May need to leverage ability with PMP, Agile or Big 5 Consulting.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Master's degree or equivalent degree in Management Information Systems, Information Assurance, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field plus 1 year of relevant experience. Alternatively, will accept Bachelor's degree or equivalent degree in Management Information Systems, Information Assurance, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field, plus 5 years of relevant experience.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must have: Proven ability with Internet technologies, standards and protocols, including DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, Web architecture and design; proven project management skills where aptitude for improving customer satisfaction was successfully demonstrated; experience in one or more web development languages, methodologies and/or architectures; strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively present technical and business related subjects to all audiences, from the user to the executive level; proven ability to work independently and solve complex technical problems; demonstrated success developing client relationships; and experience with enterprise and data center networks, system design and operation, including infrastructure design and build out, caching proxies, routing, switching and load balancing. (Please note Akamai is seeking the stated ability in the above skills but no specific amount or years of experience in these skills is required.)
