About the teamWe are on a mission to give consumers certainty and control when selling their home. In the Instant Offers product, Zillow buys homes directly from interested homeowners, thereby sparing them the tremendous stress and effort of selling. Instead, we take that upon ourselves by quickly preparing these homes for the market and re-selling them. This is a key initiative at Zillow as we aim to define the future of real estate.

We are building a technology platform that enables scaled and distributed real estate operations across the country. The platform will harness the power of local inspectors, construction managers, contractors, market experts, real estate agents, and more to deliver an outstanding transaction experience to sellers and buyers.

Zillow embraces daunting challenges like this one, and that's why we are looking for a Senior Software Development Engineer to help us in this endeavor. Instant Offers is still in very early stages, so come seize this rare opportunity and apply your operational expertise in a brand new arena. You will be joining a passionate team of developers who are building Zillow into the biggest real-estate marketplace online. About the role

Are you someone who enjoys delighting users with excellent design and a robust tech stack? Do you love being on the front lines of new, rapidly-iterating products? Will you be proud to serve millions of users daily? If so, you should join us. We are a tight-knit group with deep experience across the stack. The team is very collaborative, so someone will always be there if you want to pair program or you need another set of eyes on your pull request. While we are always looking for new ways to innovate, our current code base is a mix of:

React and Redux plus native apps on the front-end

Java, Python, and Node.js on the back-end

SQL and No-SQL persistence

In addition to working in areas of the above, part of your role on our team will be identifying new tools and technologies that will help us improve our architecture and move more quickly. If this sounds exciting to you, consider joining us!

Who you are

A college degree in Computer Science or related field.

At least five years industry experience and very high proficiency programming in Java, C#, JavaScript or Python.

A proven track record of high productivity in designing, coding, debugging web applications and backend services.

Experience with React for building web UIs or iOS / Android native app development.

Strong experience building scalable backend services. AWS and distributed systems is a plus.

Leadership qualities like a sense of ownership, strong interpersonal skills, creativity, initiative, attention to detail, and consistently delivering results.
