Sr. TPF Developer - IT

The role of the Sr. TPF Developer is to plan, design, develop and launch solutions in support of United's Passenger Service Systems (PSS) Environment and SHARES TPF (IBM-Transaction Processing Facility) platform. He/She will be a lead developer and will lead the team to design and implement solutions that solve complex business problems.

Responsibilities:

Interface

* Apply proven communication, analytical and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate and resolve issues, opportunities or problems to maximize the benefit of IT and Business investments
* Accountable for high quality delivery of critical enterprise projects on schedule, managing service levels for production support and timely responses to production defects or critical incidents.
* Maintain effective working relationships with key business and technical stakeholders
* Work with business, support, and technical teams to recommend appropriate system enhancements
* Ensure that technical solutions meet the customer business requirements
* Engage and ensure effective and timely delivery of deliverables and tasks

Delivery / Support

* Perform hands-on development, support and troubleshooting of software systems as required, optimizing performance, resolving problems, and providing follow-up on all issues and solutions
* Ensure that systems are properly integrated
* Serve as a resource for technology/project development review and technical assessments
* Ensure consistency and coherence to the enterprise standards and guiding principles throughout the application lifecycle
* Identify opportunities to leverage/influence the direction for existing infrastructure and application components
* Provide feedback to the enterprise technology owners and Architects regarding future solution needs
* Understand and apply the enterprise vision and strategy to the project solution while balancing tactical needs to deliver
* Partner with various business and IT stakeholders in defining domain architecture strategy
* Perform applications and component design following a prescribed architecture and technology footprint

People & Administrative Functions

* Keep lines of communications open and communicate emerging issues, risks and progress in a timely manner with leaders and stakeholders
* Provide consultation and technical expertise in project life cycle planning and execution including troubleshooting, problem management, root-cause analysis, and solution implementation
* Keep abreast of industry trends through benchmarking, participation in professional associations etc. to advise others of strategic technology direction
* Facilitate the continuous creation and maintenance of the strategic partnership between business needs and technology delivery.

Required Education/Knowledge/Skills/Experience:

Education / Certification

* BS/BA, preferably in a technical or scientific field or equivalent experience, education or training

Knowledge /Skills

* In depth knowledge of the TPF application development environment and tool sets
* Understanding and familiarity of TPF Assembler
* TPF/DF database design and development
* Self - sufficient, requires no direct supervision, and mentors/coaches others
* Demonstrates knowledge/experience across multiple technologies and business areas.

* Exceptional at coding and on time delivery of quality components and or applications
* Exceptional at component and unit testing of following standard practices and methodologies
* Exceptional utilizing the technologies and domain knowledge with the delivery of developed components or integrated components
* Exceptional at working problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires review of a variety of factors
* Exceptional at triage or analysis of situations for production support
* Proficient at delivering on time with minimal supervision

Experience

* 5+ years of experience in application design, development, installation and modification of software in the TPF environment

Other

* Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
* Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
* Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

* SPM (Structured Programming Macros)
* Subject Matter Expert (SME) in one or more Airline functional areas such as Ticketing, ACI, Schedules/Availability
* In depth knowledge of;

o SDLC processes, inputs/outputs, standards and best practices

o development methodologies, software design and design patterns, integration standards as well as its applicability at coding and testing cycles.

o software engineering best practices such as versioning and versioning control, software packaging and software release management

* General knowledge of overall Technology & Systems integration
* General knowledge of IATA and related industry standards
