The Global Consumer Services Technologies (GCST) team is responsible for implementing and supporting systems for the Consumer and Commercial Card businesses in the US. We are seeking a Technical Project Manager with a strong technology background to join our team in New York. You will be responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating strategic new product launches from definition through implementation.

You will have the following responsibilities:

* Leading integrated teams to deliver solutions in support of key product initiatives by working closely with product managers, scrum masters, architects, developers, and QA teams
* Working within and across business units to prioritize, plan, and execute the Technology development schedule for major product releases
* Handling and tracking status, progress and other critical metrics in relation to the plan and publishes progress reports to senior partners
* Assigning development resources to activities and monitoring progress and performance across resource channels
* Maintaining release and dependency plans across American Express development teams, external partners and third parties
* Actively identifying, managing and raising risks, issues, and changes tied to the product development initiatives
* Applies discretion on when to raise issues versus work through issues with the team
* Resolves impediments precluding teams from making progress against plans and deadlines
* Ensures deliverables across Technology teams are high-quality and clearly documented
* Conducts Pre and Post PI Planning sessions, daily stand-ups, scrum of scrums and retrospectives at the end of each planned unit of work, with a focus on continuously learning from the past
* Finds opportunities to embrace innovative technologies and processes

Qualifications

This high-energy Technical Project Manager should have:

* 10 years of IT experience with 5 years of project/program management experience managing medium to large software development projects, with a consistent record of delivering winning product constructs
* Deep understanding of all aspects of technical delivery with a demonstrated track record of increasing responsibility and ownership
* Experience understanding technology solutions at an enterprise-level is helpful
* Experience leading Agile, Scrum, or other rapid application development teams delivering extraordinary technology solutions on time
* Excellent oral and written communication skills and an ability to effectively communicate with third parties, development and product managers
* Experience in clarifying objectives, dealing with ambiguity, advocating for simplification, influencing teams and being able to build your own path to navigate to solutions
* Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies and of taking pride in your delivery
* Passion to enable business capabilities through innovation
* Knowledge and working experience of Amex internal core platforms, systems and SORs is a plus
* BS or MS degree in computer science or equivalent working experience is preferred
* PMI or equivalent project management certification is a plus
* Scrum Master certification is a plus
* Certification(s) in Scaled Agile Framework is a plus
