Job Description

The Systems Engineer in San Diego, CA will perform:

* Validation and verification activities.
* Provide systems integration, reliability growth, and risk management in support of new product development and improvement of existing commercialized products.
* Perform systems engineering design and analysis for automated instrument platform development and algorithm development for diagnostics.
* Apply experience with system level electro-mechanical components in development of fluidics and optics using Solidworks or CAD.
* Conduct reliability and system tests to approved protocols.
* Conduct intra-department investigations into various types of customer complaints, reported instrument issues and requested changes.
* Perform statistical analysis and data trending from assay, software and hardware logs and data sets and document technical reports.
* Perform automation programming in LabView and MatLab.
* Apply optical design experience on fluorescent applications.
* Conduct system level tests against specifications for product feasibility and development.
* Assist with the development of fault tree analysis, risk analysis, and failure modes and effect analysis (FMEA).
* Work with project sub-teams to plan and execute system testing and improve instrument reliability and quality to reduce field failures.
* Participate in core activities for new projects.
* Write industry level system requirements and procedures.

Qualifications:

* Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field plus two years of systems engineering experience.
* Will also accept a PhD in Electrical Engineering or related field plus six months of systems engineering experience.
* Experience must include six months of experience with each of the following:
* (1) data trending and automation programming in LabView and MatLab;
* (2) systems engineering design and analysis for automated instrument platform development and algorithm development;
* (3) designing system level electro-mechanical components in development of optics using Solidworks or CAD;
* (4) writing industry level system requirements and procedures; and
* (5) working cross functionally to improve instrument reliability and quality to reduce field failures. Employer will accept any suitable combination of education, training, or experience
