Combat Systems Test Engineer

Job Summary:

We are currently seeking a Combat Systems Test Engineer to join the Zumwalt Platform Integration Test and Delivery (PITD) teamin Portsmouth, RI.

As the Combat Systems Test Engineer, youwill apply your experience and technical expertise in the Lead role for planning, integration, test and activation of the following Ships Elements:

* C4I System Segment (SC4I)
* Sensor System Segment (SSEN)
* Engagement Segment (SENG)
* Ships Control Systems (SCS)
* Total Ships Computing Environment (TSCEi)
* Support System Segment (SSUP)

The Combat Systems Test Engineerwill

* Lead task-specific teams of Element Test Engineers, SMEs and Technicians
* Participate in the installation/activation phases (e.g., startup and checkout of Combat systems and equipment, and related HM&E support equipment). Assist in the integration and testing and support of other areas under the purview of the Test Team (e.g., TSCEi, issue write up and resolution via web-based tracking tools), material support).
* Analyze equipment failures to determine cause and corrective action based on your analysis
* Work with on-site and remote Engineering leadership and SMEs to identify, analyze and prioritize activation, test, and integration issues, and then work with relevant teams to ensure timely development, test, and implementation of solutions.
* Work with the team to advise and assist in developing preventive maintenance programs and records on all equipment.
* Provide underway system support for at sea events.
* Participate in the development and presentation of periodic metrics, reports, and status briefings.

The ability to obtain a SECRET Security Clearance is required.

Required Skills:

* Four (4+) years of Test, Program, and Post Delivery Technical and Management experience in a field environment with a concentration in military C4I & combat systems, especially for air and undersea warfare.
* Proven record of accomplishment of completed activation, test, and integration tasks and events.
* Prior experience working on board a naval vessel under construction and during trial periods at sea.
* Ability to analyze equipment failures to determine cause and perform corrective actions
* Ability to operate, test and troubleshoot complex military systems.
* Knowledge of and experience with:
* Analog and digital signal processing.
* Multi-source sensor and C4I track fusion.
* AEGIS or Zumwalt air and subsurface combat system fire control loop.
* Ability to perform normal climbing and lifting associated with shipboard electronic work
* Ability to operate, test and troubleshoot complex military systems.

The ability to obtain a SECRET Security Clearance is required.

Required Education:

BS in a relevant field of study (electronics or related major preferred), one of the physical sciences (e.g., physics), or an equivalent combination of experience, education and training.

Desired skills:

* Eight (8+) years Shipboard experience on a US Navy or commercial ship, or experience in the pre & post-commissioning phases of a naval vessel
* Ability to perform work on board a naval vessel under construction and during trial periods at sea. Prior experience working in this environment would be an advantage.
* C4I and combat system test tools (hardware and software)
* Communication Skills (i.e. experience presenting to internal & external customers utilizing PowerPoint or other presentation tools)
* Technical writing/presentation skills
* Familiarity with test planning and conduct
* Experience with participation in Configuration Control Boards
