Current Need

As part of a strategic decision to expand delivery services beyond our existing ERP environments and teams, a new agile delivery team is being created to deliver cloud-native solutions to the various McKesson business units. The key positions in this organization will be responsible for building full stack services as solutions within McKesson IT Business Solutions Transformations department. A large focus of the development specifically supports the U.S. Pharma Generics business unit. For all solutions, these software engineers will employ cloud-first technologies, following 12 factor principles. Solutions will include ground-up development of new solutions, integrations with existing technologies, portals, web services, microservices (agnostic development) and much more.

Position Description

The engineer fulfilling this position will be responsible for delivering end-to-end solutions using a broad range of skills and technologies: designing and developing full-stack solutions (i.e. web and backend software development); selecting and provisioning Azure cloud services; securing applications and their platforms; automating unit, integration, QA, and performance tests; reviewing code for quality and standards; installing and configuring CI/CD tooling; and supporting applications post go-live.

This position will follow agile methods: meeting with the business users of the product weekly or bi-weekly to gather requirements and perform demos; regularly reviewing practices in retrospectives to continually improve practices; developing and deploying software incrementally; ensuring quality is built into all phases of software development.

The team will always be looking for the right tool for the job. The current technology stack includes Ruby on Rails, Vue.js, Java, Clojure, Selenium, Docker, Concourse, and PostgreSQL.

Minimum Qualifications

4+ years experience in software engineering

Critical Skills

6+ years hands-on software development experience

1 year Ruby on Rails experience

1 year Java experience

Proficiency in multiple languages (e.g., Ceylon, Clojure, Scala, Kotlin, Python)

Clear communication skills

Additional Knowledge & Skills

Linux administration and application troubleshooting

Database expertise (Query tuning, performance troubleshooting, PL/SQL)

Azure, AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Pivotal Cloud Foundry

Specialization in testing, security, or architecture

Education

4-year degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience
