Job Description
Senior Statistical Programmer (Sage Therapeutics, Inc.; Cambridge, Massachusetts): The Senior Statistical Programmer is responsible for all statistical programming deliverables in support of the design, conduct, analysis, and reporting phase of one or more clinical trials. The Senior Statistical Programmer will be responsible for programming and validation, specification development, analysis datasets (e.g. SDTM/CDSIC, ADaM) creation, as well as mapping specifications to support relevant data standards. He/she must have exceptional verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills, creative thinking, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team. Specific job duties include: develop computer programs using SAS and perform the necessary manipulations to import external data into SAS or export SAS to other computer files; develop computer programs, using primarily SAS, to create and derive data sets and perform other advanced data manipulation; assist with the development of advanced computer programs, using SAS and other software if necessary, to perform system tasks and macros/utilities to increase the quality and efficiency with which results are produced; ensure that programs are documented in accordance with good statistical programming practices and other working guidelines; assist in other programming tasks using software other than SAS, such as SQL, to support specialized data analysis requirements; perform quality control (qc) procedures; assist with the development of computer programs, using primarily SAS, to generate complex listings, tables (including those with descriptive and standard inferential statistics in collaboration with a statistician), and complex graphs; assist with database development responsibilities; oversee and validate programming work performed by the contract research organizations (CRO); be capable of handling multiple priorities and taking initiative to follow through on own; exhibit desire to expand knowledge and learn new and upcoming technology; be attentive to details and able to independently resolve a variety of issues without close supervision; and have excellent customer relation skills.
Minimum requirements: Master's degree in Biostatistics, Statistics, Computer Science, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, or a related field or its equivalent, plus 5 years of pharmaceutical industry experience; or Bachelor's degree in Biostatistics, Statistics, Computer Science, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, or a related field or its equivalent, plus 7 years of pharmaceutical industry experience. Must have: 5 years of experience with CDISC, SDTM, and AdaM models, and transforming raw data into these standards; 5 years of experience with SQL and PL/SQL programming; 5 years of experience in SAS programming, including BASE, FSP, and SAS macro programming; 5 years of experience with SAS database structures and at least one Clinical Database Management System, such as Oracle Clinical, Clintrial, or eDM; demonstrated ability to work within multi-disciplinary teams and to coordinate and drive projects in a matrix organization; and demonstrated excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. (Unless otherwise specified, Sage Therapeutics is not seeking a specific amount of experience. All experience can be gained concurrently).
