Overview

Akamai is looking for dynamic Engineering Manager to lead, coach and inspire a team of senior software engineers. As an engineering leader, you will craft a meaningful vision for the team and will bring a technical background and team management experience. We are looking for someone who can very effectively communicate with partners in other departments as well as within the team.

As an Engineering Manager you will be responsible for:

* Working closely with senior management to define priorities, direction and timelines.
* Building a diverse team while fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment.
* Actively communicate with partners about progress, roadblocks, and timelines.
* Recruiting, mentoring, and leading a team of hardworking leaders and engineers.
* Inspiring engineers to work hard, lead by example and keep enthusiasm high in tight-deadline situations.
* Fostering innovation in the team to develop fast, scalable and secure systems that can keep up with the demand from the Akamai Platform.
* Handling day-to-day management tasks such as performance evaluations, time off, HR Coordination.

About the team:

The team is responsible for developing and maintaining Akamai's NetStorage solution - the largest, globally distributed cloud storage solution on the market. NetStorage is an essential element to scaling Akamai's high-quality delivery and media workflow solutions. Providing reliable storage that is dedicated to the transfer of content in a secure, persistent, and geographically replicated method to enable digital content optimization and flexible data transfer.

Required Education and Experience:

* 8 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree or
* 5 years of relevant experience and a Master's degree

Required Skills:

* 8+ years of production Software Development experience.
* 8+ years experience with various Software Development methodologies.
* 5+ years of experience with C/C++
* 5+ years of experience leading Software Engineering or Operations team

* Strong experience in Storage and/or Media domain
* Understanding of Internet protocols, including IP, HTTP, TCP and DNS.
* Experience with secure transfer methods TLS and SSH

* Understanding of load balancing
* Experience developing distributed systems software
