Platform Engineering is the senior infrastructure engineering team for Wells Fargo's Digital Technology organization. We provide engineering & application support to our partners across several technologies running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux; including but not limited to Apache HTTPD Webserver, Confluent Kafka, Oracle Java, Oracle Weblogic, Apache Tomcat, and AppDynamics. Platform Engineering's mission is to deliver world class engineering and support for the digital channels and products that serve our customers' online & mobile financial needs. Our subject matter experts identify & mitigate technical problems, motivate & empower our partners, and provide technical solutions that our business relies upon and our customers expect.

Platform Engineering is currently seeking a senior level engineer with direct hands on Confluent Enterprise (Kafka) experience to lead our Enterprise Data River platform. The goal of the Enterprise Data River is to offer near real-time data streaming capabilities to Wells Fargo's Digital Technology Teams; allowing applications to detect and manipulate data in near real-time.

As an Application Systems Engineer 6 for the Platform Engineering team, you will serve as the subject matter expert (SME) and act as the senior most expert technical resource engineer for the DSPT Platform. Utilizing a thorough understanding of Confluent Enterprise (Kafka) technology, tools, and existing designs, you will be responsible for the strategy, design, build, maintenance and operational support of the platform and act as the escalation point for the most complex designs, projects and problem analysis efforts.

As the platforms Lead Engineer, you will work within an Agile framework, attend daily scrum meetings, collaborate with team members, business partners & clients, provide the strategy and design for new projects, technical guidance & consultation to developers, and direction to less experienced staff. You will allocate resources to projects, ensure latest security protocols and software version standards are being met and technical procedures and guides are up to date and accurate for all the projects delivered by DSPT Engineers. You will lead the team in responding to security findings, performing upgrades, managing vendor relationships, developing documentation and departmental technical procedures, implementing best practices and standards, and providing 4th level support to production and pre-production operation teams.

Candidates should have extensive knowledge installing and configuring Confluent Kafka components and supporting, tuning and troubleshooting java applications running on Linux, working knowledge of Jira, Git, Artifactory, Jenkins, uDeploy and Shell or Python and experience operating within an agile environment. In addition, this candidate must have excellent, interpersonal, organizational and collaboration skills.

The position will report into the Platform Engineering Manager within the Digital Technology division.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

* Acts in the highest level technical role as an individual contributor and/or team lead for the most complex computer applications and/or application initiatives.
* Utilizes a thorough understanding of available technology, tools, and existing designs.
* Works on the most complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires evaluation of intangible variance factors.
* Plans, performs, and acts as the escalation point for the most complex platform designs, coding, and testing.
* Leads most complex multiple modeling, simulations, and analysis efforts.
* Acts as expert technical resource to programming staff in the program development, testing, and implementation process.

Required Qualifications

* 10+ years of application development and implementation experience
* 1+ year of leadership experience
* 7+ years of experience with the installation, configuration, implementation or administration of middleware application server installations on Red Hat Linux or Unix environments
* 10 + years of experience troubleshooting environments across the entire architecture (i.e. applications to infrastructure)
* 5+ years of build-deploy automation and configuration experience within the Linux and Unix environment
* 2+ years of experience with Apache Kafka or Confluent Enterprise
* 5+ years of Tomcat development or implementation experience
* 7+ years of advanced scripting experience using Unix Shell Scripting, Perl, Python, Java, or PL-SQL
