Security industry jobs tend to involve the patrolling and guarding of physical assets, buildings and compounds, people, or anything else of value that one cares to protect. Jobs in the industry range from the individuals that actually perform the patrolling and guarding to those that manage and administer companies that provide such services. The security industry also encompasses cyber security, network security and other computer-related areas that require advanced technical skills.
Administrative and management positions within the security industry require individuals with the proper background, experience and business acumen. All of the normal aspects of managing a business go into the management of security companies and as such administrators and managers regularly create schedules, oversee payroll and handle all manner of personnel issues. Larger security companies have a full range of jobs such as payroll clerks, accountants and other support personnel. Security guard positions are common and plentiful as there is a need for security all across the country. Entry level positions may be obtainable without an educational background or experience in the field; more specialized jobs within the industry such as management and armed security guards require training and experience. Individuals can prepare for many of these jobs through formal training at trade schools and accredited colleges. The security industry is growing and is currently a multi-billion dollar concern, with more attention being paid to cyber security as well.
