A Network Operations Center (NOC) Engineer is responsible for maintaining and monitoring computer networks and servers from a centralized location. This position is in high demand across the country by a variety of businesses as the position is integral into making sure intranets work smoothly. A NOC Engineer must constantly analyze incoming problems and troubleshoot them in a fast, effective way. Errors in the system also need to be able to be logged and debugged, and then the findings need to be passed on to on-site technicians.

Because a NOC Engineer is monitoring and troubleshooting large networks, one must be able to use a variety of system tools in order to look for alerts and spot potential problem areas in hardware, software and mobile devices. Thinking outside the box in order to troubleshoot and locate problems is paramount to the success of this position. Experience in managing, supporting and deploying network infrastructures is a must, as is experience with disaster recovery plans.
