Hardware Engineers are responsible for developing, designing, researching and testing a variety of computer systems and hardware components such as processors, motherboards, memory, accessories, graphics cards and peripherals. This position is in high demand across the country and in many different industries. Most companies will require at least a four-year degree in an accredited computer engineering program. Sometimes, however, advanced positions will require extensive work experience or a graduate-level degree.

Hardware Engineers have many different daily duties that they are responsible for. For example, one week might be spent focusing on updating and tweaking existing computer equipment so that will work with newly developed software from other members of the team, and another week might see them compiling and analyzing test results in order to optimize whatever hardware they are working on. Hardware Engineers often are required to oversee the manufacturing process, and they are expected to maintain knowledge of current techniques and emerging technology.
