A company’s Frontend Engineer plays a critical role in the success of the company website because the Frontend Engineer is responsible for making sure that the site can be easily navigated. The Frontend Engineer makes sure that the website is user-friendly. Frontend Engineers create dynamic features like animations and games. They also create text boxes, forums and navigation of the website. A Frontend Engineer also develops templates, applications and additional website pages that require coding languages like CSS, JavaScript and HTML. This is sometimes a collaborative effort with other members of the technical team.
Most Frontend Engineers have a degree in computer science or a related field. They must be able to code in various languages and design web interactions that users will enjoy. Much of their job requires being able to think like the end-user, then take this information and apply it to their designs. Because the internet frequently changes and updates, they also must be able to keep up with testing and updating the sites. This is often a job that requires the ability to work in a team. As mentioned earlier, there is often collaboration involved in this role with other programmers, Backend Engineers and additional technical staff. In addition to working to create the website with other technical staff, the Frontend Engineer frequently works with the marketing team and creates pages and features that are on target with the company brand.
