Job Description

Position Responsibilities

The Sr. Principal Business Systems Analyst's role is to plan, design, develop, and launch enterprise IT business application solutions and systems to support and improve operational business processes across the company. This includes facilitating business process design workshops, gathering and synthesizing functional and technical requirements, analyzing data to support business cases for proposed projects and new technology investments, and supporting the operations of production business applications. The BSA will serve as a relationship manager for specific business units to help identify, scope, prioritize, and deliver their business technology initiatives. The BSA is also responsible for analyzing current issues and proposing solutions that balance cost with business benefits. This individual will combine strong business acumen with proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help maximize the business value of IT system investments. The BSA will demonstrate understanding of SDLC and have the experience to lead complex system implementation projects to completion. Ability to be flexible with project approaches including Waterfall, Agile or Hybrid.

Systems Strategy & Planning

* Meet with decision makers, business process owners, and end users to define functional and technical requirements for new initiatives and to identify and resolve systems issues.
* Lead business process design sessions for the purpose of enhancing business operations and information flow through IT systems.
* Review and analyze the effectiveness of existing systems and develop strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems.

Systems Integration & Deployment

* Research software products and lead vendor evaluation / selection processes for IT business applications through a formal methodology.
* Perform cost-benefit and ROI analyses for proposed IT systems to aid management in making implementation decisions.
* Collaborate in the planning, design, development, and implementation of new IT business applications, and enhancements to existing business applications.
* Create use-case models, requirements specifications, and interface diagrams to provide direction to system programmers.
* Lead and execute system testing activities, including end-user acceptance testing, for modified and new systems, and other post-implementation support.
* Provide training and communications for systems implementation projects.

Systems Operations & Support

* Prepare and deliver reports, recommendations, or alternatives that address existing and potential trouble areas in IT business systems across the enterprise.
* Review and analyze the effectiveness of existing systems and develop strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems.
* Proactively partner with business and technical teams to provide ongoing support and systems / process improvements.
* Provide thought leadership and guidance to other team members, both technical and business.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

* BA / BS, Management Information Systems, Business Administration or equivalent experience. Masters degree is a plus.
* 10 - 12 years of experience as an IT Business Analyst or Business Systems Analyst
* 10 years of experience implementing sales, customer care, finance or HR systems in the High-Tech or Information Services industries.
* Experience with data analysis and management in ERP or other back office applications.
* Consulting experience or background strongly preferred
* Experience with Salesforce.com is desired, and experience with Salesforce CPQ is a plus.

Technical Knowledge and Skills:

* Experience in the full System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) on a variety of technologies and platforms.
* Must be able to translate business requirements into well-formed technical and system requirements.
* Experience implementing and supporting SaaS applications (e.g., Salesforce.com).
* Strong experience with IT project management processes and approaches.
* Expert Interview Skills are required to surface essential requirements information.
* Experience with modeling business processes, data flows, and workflow processes
* Should be comfortable working with large data sets (data analysis and data mapping) and Business Intelligence tools

Project Management Skills:

* Organize and lead project status and working meetings, including process analysis workshops
* Communicate project plans and status to internal stakeholders
* Proactively identify risks and issues, and develop resolution plans
* Develop relationships with key business stakeholders
* Be comfortable with an agile approach; innovate to meet unique needs of each project
* Hold project teams accountable for their project responsibilities and deliverables
* Proactively ensure that teams are "in sync" in terms of communication, schedules, issues and risks

Customer Management Skills:

* Excellent communication (oral and written), relationship building, influence and negotiation skills with both technical and business resources.
* Experience working with customers in a variety of roles / levels from junior developers to executives at a VP and higher level

Other Competencies:

* Deltek is a fast-paced environment; the ability to multitask on different projects at the same time and to react deftly to changes in business priorities is critical
* Experience in coordinating multiple priorities, managing conflicts where needed
* Ability to identify and drive change management from a process and technical solution perspective
* Salesforce experience is strongly desired and Salesforce CPQ a plus
