Position Responsibilities

The Sr. Project Manager (PM) leads the execution of strategic business initiatives throughout the enterprise. The PM leverages extensive project management experience, business process improvement experience, strong leadership skills, and business acumen to deliver projects that help drive our business forward. The PM is responsible for providing end-to-end cross-discipline leadership of a wide range of business projects including merger and acquisition integration, business process improvement and organizational change initiatives. The PM is expected to operate comfortably and effectively at the Executive and VP level, manage multiple high complexity, high risk, and business critical projects; and actively champion and contribute to continuous improvement of PM best practices.

Specific Responsibilities:

* Project Planning - Works closely with the project team and business stakeholders to define the approach, activities and timelines for project execution, leveraging project management best practices. Tailors standard project methodologies to define pragmatic approaches for specific initiatives.


* Project Management - Applies modern project management techniques to manage a project, achieving objectives of scope, quality, time and cost; organize and lead project status and working meetings; prepare progress reports; present to executive steering committee on a regular basis; proactively identify and mitigate project risks and issues; manage project changes; develop relationships with key business stakeholders.


* Team Management - Holds project teams accountable for their project responsibilities and deliverables; proactively ensure that teams are "in sync" in terms of communication, schedules, issues, etc.; develop project teams by promoting empowerment, engagement and high quality deliverables.


* Process Management and Improvement - Champions continuous improvement and adoption of project management best practices using innovative ideas to increase effectiveness.


* Change Management - Seeks to understand change impacts resulting from the project and leads the team in defining and executing change management plans. Proactively encourages cross-functional business involvement in projects, building trusting relationships with business counterparts to ensure alignment and buy-in to solutions.



Other Key Requirements of the Successful Candidate:

* Strong understanding of Project Management, process improvement and change management methodologies. Able to pragmatically apply and "right-size" these practices to fit the project and business need.


* Driven, proactive and a do-er.


* A strong communicator with the ability to pull out and summarize information and tailor communication style and content for a variety of audiences. Comfortable and confident presenting to executives.


* Ability to take a consultative approach to understand requirements, drill into details, and resolve issues.


* Ability to think creatively to define innovative solutions to complex business problems.


* Experience leading a variety of different types of projects including business process improvement projects, IT projects, change management and strategic initiatives.


* Skilled in building trusted relationships with team members and project stakeholders.


* Ability to effectively address and resolve conflict within and across teams.


* Deltek is a fast-paced and dynamic environment; the ability to multitask on different projects concurrently and react quickly to movements in the business is critical.



Qualifications

Experience:

* 8-10 + years of progressively responsible experience as a Project Manager for a combination of process improvement, business change, and strategic initiatives.
* B.S., Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration or equivalent experience
* Experience or background in Consulting
* Formal Process Improvement methodology experience (such as 5 Whys, Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen) (desired)
* Experience or background in Requirements Analysis (desired)
* Experience with merger and acquisition integration project management (desired)
* Experience in organizational change management (desired)
* Systems implementation experience (desired)
* Experience managing projects with remote teams (desired)
