About the Job

The Akamai Custom Government Engineering team is looking for a Software Engineer interested in managing the Akamai cloud storage solution known as NetStorage within the public sector. You will work closely with the other members of the Custom Government Engineering, Operations, and Professional Services groups to support and improve our existing product offerings. The ideal candidate will be an experienced, self-motivated, highly productive engineer with a strong systems background. This is a fast-paced environment and having strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to follow through on assigned tasks are critical for success.

Responsibilities

* Assume primary ownership of the GCDS NetStorage ecosystem.
* Lead integration of NetStorage into the Public Sector enterprise environment.
* Research and implement new NetStorage features.
* Act as a technical resource to assist in customer escalations.
* Work with other internal development teams to solve platform problems.
* Maintain, enhance, and develop tools and testing frameworks.

About the Team

The Custom Government Engineering team works with breadth and depth across Akamai's technology stack to deliver custom solutions for our Public Sector customers. The team has a strong relationship with our Operations team; working in a collaborative fashion, we strive to build and operate world-class Application Delivery Networks for our customers.

Qualifications

Required Skills

* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, relevant engineering field, or equivalent experience
* 2+ years experience in system administration or software development.
* 2+ years of experience in one or more scripting languages (shell, Perl, Python, etc.)
* 2+ years of hands-on experience working in Unix/Linux
* 2+ years of experience working with networking concepts and web technologies such as HTTP, DNS, TCP/IP.
* US Citizenship.

Desired Skills

* Prior experience in a distributed computing environment.
* Experience with git/Stash and Perforce version control systems.
* Familiarity with cloud storage concepts such as Amazon S3 or Azure Blob Storage.
* Data management replication concepts such as eventual consistency and various redundancy schemes.
* Understanding of existing appliance offerings such as NetApp.
* Strong understanding of API concepts.
* Active, in-scope SSBI clearance.
