AstraZeneca is currently looking for a Sr. Solution Engineer to join our Science and Enabling Units IT Solution Delivery Team. This role requires a person with deep technical and analytical skills, that codes daily and is capable of leading others. We'll rely on you to bring your technical acumen to help the team continue to deliver extraordinary solutions.

In this role, you will be part of our global development team which is migrating to as close as we can to a true DevOps operating model. You will be a factor in that transition. You will initially be working on improving existing systems in early science which includes configuring and integrating commercial off the shelf (COTS) software. You will be playing a key role in evaluating new COTS solutions both in identifying and implementing the solution. Along with this, you are expected to use your technical foundation and creativity to expand our capabilities in early science engineering with new methods and solutions. You should have an ability to understand scientific problems, and come up with a solution that best fits the scenario with an open mind regarding the solution (buy or build). You should have the skillset to build a custom solution in cases of custom solutions, and configure and integrate in case of a COTS solution. Based on your success and effectiveness in this role, you will be given the opportunity to lead a team of software engineers who will be working on expanding early science engineering capabilities.

We consider individuals in this role to be our premier Solution Engineers. You build it, you own it. A premier engineer is capable of working in multiple spaces. Learning new technology is part of that. However, you must have deep technical skills. Here are a few skills we are looking for in a person for this role:

* Experienced in configuring and integrating COTS systems
* Experience with some traditional software programming languages for example Java, Python, C, Scripting languages.
* Problem solving
* Ability to use a technology that fits the need
* Ability and willingness to learn new technologies
* Jira/Confluence/Git
* AWS
* Oracle/SQL Server
* Postgress

Education Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Math, Computer Science, Information Science, or equivalent degree is preferred, but not required.

We will hire self-taught engineers without a formal education given that you have evidence of rich history of software engineering. High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

Experience Requirements:

* Long history of enjoying problem solving and building things.
* 8+ years of software development experience.
