We are the Storage and File Systems team which is part of the Core Operating System and Intelligent Edge organization. We deliver storage solutions for Windows, Azure, IoT and new devices that Microsoft ships in the future. This area involves tough challenges and provides tremendous upside opportunities including leveraging the reduced size, portability and increased functionality of new storage devices, improved software platform infrastructure, emerging protocol standards, seamless integration of local and cloud storage and development of solutions to new content usage paradigms.

Required Qualifications

BS/MS/PhD degree in Computer Science, Math, Engineering, or related fields

5+ years of experience developing software in C/C++, C# or Java

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with operating system components, file systems, I/O subsystems, device drivers, storage health and cloud storage

Knowledge of COM, RPC, Windows API (Win32 API), Windows Runtime (WinRT) API

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. As an engineer on the Storage and File Systems team you will have the opportunity to work at any layer of the software stack from cloud storage integration, user experience, system level API's, to low level communication protocols with hardware devices through OS kernel layers. The work can range from building experience and services managing devices with local storage intelligently connected to cloud; advancing Windows API and Windows Runtime API for storage; onboarding new storage standards and devices to the Windows ecosystem. You will work closely with teams in Windows, Office 365, Azure or our Silicon, OEM partners to deliver best in class reliability, performance and user experience for everything around storage.
