Senior Network Engineer

Job Responsibilities:

* The Network Engineer will be responsible for the configuration, deployment, monitoring, troubleshooting, and analysis of Wide Area Network (WAN), Local Area Network (LAN), and Wireless infrastructure services to deliver voice, video and data applications to Montgomery County Government and County Agency offices
* Network Engineer will demonstrable experience in the design and solutions deployment of resilient, high-speed, Enterprise network segments, Internet working technologies such as SI Reference Model, TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLAN's, VTP, IPsec Tunneling, DNS/DHCP, CoS/QoS, VoIP, HSRP, SNMP, NetFlow)

Qualifications:

* Expert knowledge of WAN carrier technologies (MPLS, DMVPN, T-1, OC-3, SONET, High Speed Internet) and standards
* Expert knowledge of LAN (GigabitEthernet, PoE, link aggregation, CDP, NTP, ARP, Spanning Tree)
* Experience with ATM protocols including AAL1 and AAL2 technologies
* Preferred Knowledge of GDC product line including DV2 generation equipment
* Knowledge of basic power distribution and protection systems
* Experience in creating network staff training materials, network diagrams (Microsoft Visio), and general documentation
* Hands on experience with Network Management Systems
* Recent ATM (Asynchronous Transfer Mode) experience
* The Network Engineer will work side-by-side with County staff to design, deploy, monitor, and maintain WAN/LAN/Wireless infrastructure
* Expected to work hours as assigned, also to work periodically in the field at remote County locations. Such assignments may require contractors to work a normal business day schedule or a combination of a normal business day, off-hours and weekends
* Requests to work off-hours are anticipated to be approximately 15%.
* Must be well organized, responsible, and accountable
* Must be detail-oriented, quick to learn, self-motivated
* Have ability to follow directions and execute written procedures
* Must be available for some work off-hours and weekends
* Must communicate effectively with associates and others over telephone, SMS text, and via Email
* Must be able to lift 25 pounds
* Must possess reliable transportation to ensure work attendance as scheduled
