Job Description

Enterprises are a big focus in Microsoft's strategy for Azure, Backup is one of the top workloads picked by enterprises to adopt the public cloud, and Azure Backup is our offering in this space for enterprises. Protecting all vital state in Azure for business continuity is also critical for Azure to earn customer trust, and Azure DPP (Data Protection Platform) takes responsibility for enabling that.

Our geographically distributed team builds on-premises, hybrid, and cloud backup solutions that aim to disrupt the traditional on-premises backup segment (worth billions of dollars!) and lead in providing backup solutions for all emerging public cloud assets. We are developing a highly scalable multitenant PaaS service & platform consisting of loosely coupled micro services integrated with the Azure Portal to help protect any workload (VMs, SQL, SAP, File Server etc.) running on Azure or private cloud. Azure Backup already manages hundreds of petabytes of data in the backend across over half a million data sources, and you will join us at the beginning of this journey!

Basic qualifications:

* 9+ years of hands on experience designing, developing and shipping commercial software.
* 3+ years of experience building and shipping highly scalable and reliable cloud services or distributed systems. Azure or AWS experience a definite plus.
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field

Cloud Background check:

Your Opportunities:

You will work with a dynamic and passionate and team to lead the design of our next generation Azure DPP, working closely with workload teams across Azure. The goal of the DPP is to allow Azure services to offer backup functionality for their customers without having to build the required capabilities from scratch, while DPP does the heavy lifting to protect customer assets. You will help define what the new platform looks like, and mold it to offer industry leading data protection for any Azure service and help meet their customer needs.
