The Digital Communications & Creative Design Specialist (Communications & Design Specialist) will work with CTS to advance the research, communication, and support the various communication initiatives and design needs within CTS. This includes the MTSS pilot, the Study on the State of Black Youth in Los Angeles, LCFF case studies, and emerging projects as they arise. The Communications & Design Specialist responsibilities include leading the design, production, and implementation of visual graphics and content creation; planning, analyzing, and creating visual graphics and content that communication the various project ideas, goals, and research; and creating and proposing effective way of sharing information through various medias - print, electronic, film, etc. - using a variety of methods. The Communications & Design Specialist will manage all Media Relations for CTS, and their associate projects, by ensuring targeted outreach strategies are used and developed to increasing external engagement with CTS.
The Communications & Design Specialist will lead the design, production and implementation of web-based communications systems for electronic outreach initiatives and organize information architecture for projects; will develop the overall layout and production design of promotional materials, training materials/guides and modules; and maintain web content for CTS and its associate projects. They will be responsible for data visualizations for CTS and affiliated project reports, by creating graphics and infographics for CTS on school climate and discipline tools. Additionally, working directly with the MTSS Project Director and CTS staff, the digital communications specialist's will also support the development of the pilot program and curriculum for online audiences. Advanced working knowledge of Macintosh and PC computers and associated software, including expert knowledge of desktop publishing, database management, HTML, graphics, and website content and design programs (InDesign, PhotoShop, Illustrator, PageMaker, Microsoft Office, FileMaker, Excel.)
Required
Advanced working knowledge of programming languages (e.g., R, Python, or others) to create effective graphic reports and charts.
Required
Experience in graphic art layout and design including professional presentation using fonts, formatting, color, and images.
Required
Skill in using advanced computer application features including stylesheets, graphs, and merge functions.
Required
Familiarity with electronic database management, such as MailChimp, Google Docs, Box, etc.

Experience in Database Management.
Preferred
Experience in developing web based applications, specifically using PHP/MySQL Intimate knowledge of web based application development, including best practices for session handling, data manipulation and persistence for security purposes.

A bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Computer Science or allied field or at least 3 years of work experience as a Graphic Designer.
