Requisition Number: 29325 Job Title: PROGRAMMER/ANALYST III Working Title: Applications Programmer III Salary: $5,234 - $10,358 monthly Job Type: Career Department Name: 3320-TRANSPORTATION SERVICES Department Website URL: https://transportation.ucla.edu/ Job Summary Statement: UCLA Events & Transportation (E&T) is seeking an experienced database developer. The primary functions of the position will be to architect, design, code, and test database solutions and system interfaces using Microsoft tools and technologies such as SQL Server, Integration Services, Reporting Services, and C#. Additional requirements are to maintain system activities including support for bug fixes, enhancements to existing applications, and building interfaces between applications and vendor systems. Assist E&T units with business specifications and produce technical design documents. Develop and implement innovative technology solutions that streamline and improve operational processes.

Incumbent must balance workload to complete competing projects while meeting or exceeding customer expectations. Strong emphasis is placed on meeting deadlines and project milestones, maintaining communication with customers, and meeting budgetary objectives. Percentage of Time: 100 Shift Start: 8:00 am Shift End: 5:00 pm Qualifications for Position

21 Records Qualifications Required/Preferred

1. Detailed working knowledge (five or more years of experience) of Microsoft database development tools and operating system software, including Microsoft SQL Server, Integration Services, Reporting Services and C#, Microsoft Windows and development aids as appropriate to area of concentration.

2. Detailed working knowledge of microcomputer software tools, including tools for project management, data administration, application controls, and production documentation.

3. Working knowledge of the departmental plans, user guide specifications, resource management reports, forms and procedures, and relevant team plans and documents (i.e., user manuals, technical documents).

4. Working knowledge of relevant applications systems, including design, code, input, reports, screens, and networking.

5. Ability to formulate, administer, enforce and apply control policies, standards, procedures, guidelines, and methodologies.

6. Skill in writing code that is easily maintainable, well documented and commented, meets user and department specifications, and is completed by scheduled deadlines.

7. Skill in performing systems testing, including unit tests, parallel tests, user acceptance tests, stress tests, benchmark tests, and regression tests. Ability to carry out the testing process in a clear, complete, technically sound, and well documented manner.

8. Ability to monitor the application environment, initiate maintenance requests and respond to production problems quickly, accurately, independently, and with adequate follow up.

9. Ability to use systems resources (documents, manuals, publications, vendors, user groups) to maintain current knowledge of the information systems profession.

10. Ability to prepare documents that are clearly written, well organized, well structured, accurate, complete, cover all relevant issues, and are professional in appearance.

11. Ability to provide users and E&T staff with information that is accurate, sound, timely, and well documented.

12. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with other staff members and users.

13. Working knowledge of personal computer hardware, operating system software, and other vendor applications software and hardware.

15. Ability to perform functional analysis and systems research that is thorough, accurate, practical, correctly considers technical constraints, meets user requirements, and is consistent with the department development standards and overall design goals.
