Qualifications

* Ideally, you'll have a minimum of 8 years' hands-on experience with a strong data background working in a client-facing setting. You have experience with Big data tools and building data solutions for advanced analytics.
* Your practical knowledge spans across (and beyond) the below areas with a clear hands on mastery in a few:
* Data extraction and transformation tools - traditional ETL tools (Informatica, Alteryx, etc.) as well as more recent big data tools
* Data architecture - defining data retention policies, monitoring performance and advising any necessary infrastructure changes.
* Big database systems (must have) - Hadoop ecosystem, Cloud technologies (AWS, Google, Azure), In-memory database systems (HANA, Hazel cast, etc.)
* Other data base systems - Traditional RDBMS (Terradata, Sql server, Oracle, MySQL), NoSQL databases (DynamoDB, Cassandra, MongoDB) and cloud solutions
* Development skills - Java, Scala, Sql (RDBMS & Spark, Hive, etc.)
* Additionally, experience great to have - comfort in dashboard development (Tableau, Power BI, Qlik, etc.). developing data analytics models (R, Python, Spark, etc.), cloud experience with any of the major providers and stream processing
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent; Masters preferred

What You'll Do

Data Engineering Specialists are our hands-on experts who connect and model complex distributed data sets to build repositories such as data warehouses, data lakes using the appropriate technologies.

You will work with our clients, and other McKinsey experts such as data scientists and architects to design and build cutting edge (big) data solutions.

You will be seen as the go-to experts for tackling data related contexts ranging across addressing small to large complex data sets, structured/unstructured or streaming data, extraction, transformation, curation, modelling, building data pipelines, identifying the right tools, writing SQL/Java/Scala code, etc.
