Job Summary

Summary: The CLU Application group is responsible for Nuance's services that use Clinical Language Understanding (CLU) to analyze physician documentation in real time and provide intelligent feedback. Our aim is to reduce the time that doctors spend writing notes so they can spend more time with patients, ensure that documents are as detailed as possible so the patient receives the best care, and streamline the billing process by collecting accurate and complete assessments.

As a Java Software Engineer in the CLU Application group, you will work with a team of developers, QA and documentation staff to develop and maintain our Healthcare Applications. You will work on multiple deliverables with dynamic schedules. Tasks include implementing customer interfaces and product workflows, coordinating Azure deployments, integrating new technology from other R&D teams or third parties, and supporting products already in deployment.

Responsibilities:

* Develop robust, scalable and extendable Java / Spring server applications, integrate with local and remote data sources, implement client-side JavaScript/CSS/SCSS and React UIs.
* Work with customers to test new technologies and deployments.
* Prototype and create administrative systems that simplify the support and management of our Healthcare Applications.
* Perform tasks related to securing and keeping the products, tools, and processes that you are responsible for securing.

Qualifications

Number of Years of Work Experience: Completion of an internship or major academic project is required. Experience working in the software industry is preferred.

Required Skills:

* Experience with Java or deep experience with a similar object-oriented language
* SQL and/or NoSQL database experience
* Experience designing, developing, or working with REST APIs
* UI design and implementation
* Experience working in Agile development team environments, including code reviews, source control
* Management, general knowledge of software development process
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Skills:

* Spring, JavaScript, TypeScript and CSS
* The React framework
* Experience deploying commercial Java web applications on Tomcat or other app servers
* Test-driven-development using frameworks such as Junit, Spock Framework, Functional Testing, and Mockito
* Experience working in a cloud-based environment like Azure or AWS
* Linux command line and server administration experience
* Multithreaded application development and debugging

Education: Bachelor's in Computer Science or related discipline.
